Transportation Corps officers are college educated and trained as combat infantry officers before undertaking their transportation training. This training includes leadership skills and tactics, and transportation-specific skills including the maintenance and operational characteristics of weapons and land- , air-, and water-based vehicles.
Once they complete the Transportation Basic Officer Leader Course, Transportation Corps officers are assigned to a unit, where their responsibilities include the functional planning and coordination of movements on both commercial and military transport.
